If you want to use an Integrated xSeries Server (IXS) as your Fax Windows Services System and the IXS is located on the same iSeries server as your Fax server, complete the following steps from the Administrator Workstation for your Domino server:

  • Stop Fax.
  • To use an existing IXS, run the Work with Network Servers (WRKNWSD) command from any i5/OS command line to see a list of configured NWSDs. Determine the name of an existing NWSD that has a *WINDOWSNT Network server type ( TYPE).
  • If you prefer to create a new, local IXS, use the Create Network Server Description (CRTNWSD) command or Install Windows NT Server (INSWNTSVR) command to create an NWSD with a name that matches the name specified in the Fax Setup database (setupfxd.nsf). (Note that this is also the value of the $FAXFMTCVTNWSD notes.ini environment variable). If using the CRTNWSD command to create a new, local INS, make sure to specify *WINDOWSNT on the TYPE parameter.
  • Run the Fax Setup database (setupfxd.nsf). Make sure you select Local Integrated Netfinity Server and specify the correct NWSD name for the Network Server Description field.
  • Open the notes.ini file of the Domino server where you installed Fax.
    • If the $FAXFMTCVTHOST environment variable exists, remove it.
    • If the $FAXFMTCVTNWSD environment variable does not exist, add it to the notes.ini file and set it equal to the name of this NWSD.
  • Start Fax.

If you want to use a Windows NT system as your Fax Windows Services System and the NT system is not an IXS located on the same iSeries server as your Fax server, complete the following steps from the Administrator Workstation for your Domino server:

  • Stop Fax.
  • Run the Fax Setup database (setupfxd.nsf). Make sure that you select Other Windows System and specify the correct TCP/IP host name for the Fax Windows Services System TCP/IP Host Name parameter.
  • Open the notes.ini file of the Domino server where you installed Fax.
    • If the $FAXFMTCVTNWSD environment variable exists, remove it.
    • If the $FAXFMTCVTHOST environment variable does not exist, add it to the notes.ini file and set it equal to the TCP/IP host name of the Windows NT server or workstation that you selected for your Fax Windows Services System.
Note: A TCP/IP IP address will not work. You must use the system host name and set up any domain name servers accordingly.
  • Start Fax.

1050 You must configure the IP address of the *INTERNAL port of the local IXS you chose for your Fax Windows Services System. Complete the following steps from the Administrator Workstation for your Domino server:

  • Stop Fax.
  • Run the Work with Network Server Description (WRKNWSD) command.
  • Select option 2 for the NWSD you chose for your Fax Windows Services System.
  • Page down until you find the TCP/IP port configuration ( TCPPORTCFG) parameter. If no *INTERNAL port exists, add one. If an *INTERNAL port exists, change it. Make sure the Internet address, Subnet mask and Maximum transmission units are correct for the *INTERNAL port.
Note: For more information regarding the IXS, see AS/400 Integration with Windows NT Server or the NT Library for IXS publications.
  • Start Fax.

1060 From the Administrator Workstation for your Domino server, complete the following steps:

  • Stop Fax.
  • Make sure that the value for the $FAXFMTCVTNWSD or $FAXFMTCVTHOST notes.ini environment variable contains only code page 850 ASCII characters.
  • Start Fax.

1065 From the Administrator Workstation for your Domino server, complete the following steps:

  • Stop Fax.
  • Contact your network administrator to obtain an IP address for the IXS or Windows system you selected as your Fax Windows Services System.
  • Configure the IXS or Windows system with this external IP address.
  • Ask your network administrator to add the IXS or Windows system host name and IP address to a Domain Name Server or to the host table of the iSeries server where you installed Fax.
Note: To add the host name and IP address to an i5/OS host table, use the Add TCP/IP Host Table Entry (ADDTCPHTE) command.
  • Run the Fax Setup database (setupfxd.nsf). Make sure you select Other Windows System and specify the correct TCP/IP host name for the Fax Windows Services System TCP/IP Host Name parameter.
Note: You must specify the host name and not the IP address.
  • Start Fax.

1070 The $FAXFMTCVTPORT environment variable must be set equal to a port number that is less than or equal to 65535. This is the port which the Fax Conversion Service running on the Fax Windows Services System will use. By default, the Fax Conversion Service listens on port 19700. From the Administrator Workstation for your Domino server, complete the following steps:

  • Stop Fax.
  • Determine which port the Fax Conversion Service on the Fax Windows Services System is using.
  • Open the notes.ini file of the Domino server where you installed Fax.
  • Find the $FAXFMTCVTPORT environment variable and set it equal to the port being used by the Fax Conversion Service.
  • Start Fax.
