IBM i Access

A self-extracting executable (built with PKZIP) can be downloaded that contains all the necessary files to compile and execute the XDA for iSeries Access for Windows APIs. Included in the executable are the following files:

1. qxdaedrsnt.h
   The qxdaedrsnt.h file can be downloaded from this site for V5R1 and V5R2, until V5R2 iSeries Access for Windows service pack SI10914 or later. (Refer to V5R2 iSeries Access Service Pack SI10914 below for details.)
2. qxdaedrs.lib
   The qxdaedrs.lib file can be downloaded from this site for V5R1 and V5R2, until V5R2 iSeries Access for Windows service pack SI10914 or later. (Refer to V5R2 iSeries Access Service Pack SI10914 below for details.)
3. qxdaedrs.dll
4. sndbufsz.reg
   The sndbufsz.reg file can be downloaded from this site for V5R1 and V5R2, until V5R2 iSeries Access for Windows service pack SI09809 or later (refer to V5R2 iSeries Access Service Pack SI09809 below for details), to allow the customer the flexibility to adjust the TCP send/receive buffers size or remain with the XDA default of 1 MB.
5. DataConv.reg
   The DataConv.reg file is available in V5R1 and later to allow the customer the option to use the default ASCII to/from EBCDIC data conversion method (ConversionVal = 0) or use the original data conversion method (ConversionVal = 1).
6. readme.txt (V5R2 and later)
   The README.TXT is used to inform users of fixes or enhancements to the code.

It is recommended to download the latest service pack when it is available.

For V6R1 iSeries Access for Windows:

In order to make use of the latest V5R2 qxdaedrs.dll, install iSeries Access for Windows Service Pack SI09809 or later.

For V5R1 Client Access Express (no longer supported): qxdaedrs_v5r1.exe (64KB)

For V4R5 Client Access Express (no longer supported): qxdaedrs.exe (140KB)

The XDA Windows client has been more tightly integrated with the iSeries Access for Windows core in this service pack. This makes the Windows XDA client more serviceable, since it now logs to iSeries Access for Windows Detail Trace. It makes the Windows XDA client more easily configured, since communications parameters that could only be set before through use of sndbufsz.reg, specifically the TCP send buffer size and TCP receive buffer size, can now be set using the cwbcopwr.exe utility, as can others. (Note: Because of this enhancement, sndbufsz.reg is obsolete starting with this service pack. Also note that use of cwbcopwr.exe is recommended for advanced users only.)

Beginning with V5R2 iSeries Access for Windows Service Pack SI10914, customers will no longer be able to download the qxdaedrs.lib library or the qxdaedrsnt.h header file from this site. Instead, customers should link their applications to cwbapi.lib, which is acquired by installing Service Pack SI10914 or later for iSeries Access for Windows on the PC. The qxdaedrsnt.h header file is acquired when choosing to include the iSeries Access Toolkit during the service pack installation.
