How to acquire the V6R1 System i Access products:

You are upgrading all of your software to V6R1

For customers ordering or upgrading their i5/OS software to V6R1 who order System i Access Family (5761-XW1), you will receive:

  • System i Access for Windows (5761-XE1, V6R1): available on your System i5 media with the standard set products. Using the 5250 emulation and Data Transfer components of iSeries Access for Windows requires purchasing licenses for System i Access Family (5761-XW1). All other functions do not require 5761-XW1 licenses.
  • System i Access for Web (5761-XH2, V6R1): available on your System i5 media set with the keyed set products. All functions of System i Access for Web require 5761-XW1 licenses.
  • iSeries Access for Wireless (5722-XP1, V5R3): available on your System i5 media with the standard set products. Using this product does not require the purchase of System i Access Family licenses. Note that with V6R1 i5/OS orders, System i Access for Wireless is still V5R3. A V6R1 version is not available.

You would like to remain at V5R4 i5/OS

For current V5R4 System i Access Family (5722-XW1) customers:
If you have a software maintenance contract for your i5/OS, you can acquire the V6R1 System i Access Family products but keep your i5/OS at V5R4 by ordering the 5722XW1 (iSeries Access Family) refresh. The refresh feature is 2649 and is available at no charge for software maintenance customers.

This refresh will provide the following V6R1 iSeries Access Family products:

  • V6R1M0 System i Access for Windows
  • V6R1M0 System i Access for Web

Notes:

  • The V6R1 System i Access Family (5761-XW1) licensed program itself is not included with the refresh because it is not needed: when installing and using the refresh products (listed above) on a server with V5R4 i5/OS, using the licensed features of those products will use the V5R4 5722-XW1 licensing.
  • System i Access for Linux: only available as a web download. Refer to the System i Access for Linux home page.
  • System i Access for Wireless: note that with V6R1 i5/OS orders, System i Access for Wireless is still V5R3. A V6R1 version is not available, but the V5R3 version installs on V6R1 i5/OS.
