The ibmsis iSeries Linux device driver provides support for direct I/O for disk and tape SCSI devices. Specifically it can be used to natively control the 2763, 2748, and 2778 adapters installed in a Linux partition. The ibmsis device driver is required to support direct disk and tape adapters with iSeries. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 distribution does not include the ibmsis device driver. The device driver can be downloaded in two formats: source format that can be built on any distribution supporting iSeries and binaries available from the University of Illinois for Red Hat's Enterprise Linux AS 3 for iSeries.
Direct Storage support for SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 and 10 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5, is included with the distributions.
