Today, businesses face many challenges that relate to the demand for system storage. The emphasis on customer service continues to fuel the need for timely access to increasing amounts of information.
Internet-based applications and data warehousing-based applications continue to increase the demand for storage. IBM i meets these challenges by increasing storage at reduced cost and offering ultra-fast performance options. With this in mind, IBM has two great storage solutions: native integrated disk storage and IBM® TotalStorage® SAN solutions, giving customers state of the art technologies and a choice for their storage needs.
Disk: High performance disk storage solutions for servers across the enterprise, including Virtual I/O capabilities for Linux and Windows server environment.
Tape: The most cost effective means for high speed backup and recovery and archival of your enterprise data.
SAN: Consolidates multiple heterogeneous platforms into a single set of centrally managed resources such as disk or tape storage and SAN fabric.
I/O: High Speed Link (HSL) or 12X attached I/O drawers and towers, with PCI-X or PCI-e I/O adapters deliver significant performance throughput.
Optical: Provides fast, on-line random access to aged data that does not require sub-second response time.
