SPECjbb2000 Benchmark Leadership
The IBM System i5 has achieved the #1 benchmark result in the industry in both the 8 processor core and 32-48 processor core classes on the SPECjbb2000® benchmark. SPECjbb2000 evaluates the performance of servers running typical Java business applications by simulating an order processor for wholesale suppliers. It is implemented as a three-tier client/server system with emphasis on the middle tier.
The new i595 32 processor core system announced on January 31, 2006 performed 1,111,377 operations per second on the SPECjbb2000 benchmark, surpassing all 32-48 processor core systems in the industry on this important Java benchmark. The i595 benchmark was performed using i5/OS V5R4 and the IBM Developer Kit for Java 1.4.2 64-bit JVM.
The new i570 8 processor core system also announced on January 31, 2006 performed 397,685 operations per second on the same benchmark, surpassing all 8 processor core systems in the industry. The i570 benchmark was performed using i5/OS V5R4 and the IBM Developer Kit for Java 1.5 32-bit JVM.
