IBM Announces IBM i Solution Edition for JD Edwards
This week, IBM announced the IBM i Solution Edition for JD Edwards which is an infrastructure solution specifically designed, configured, and priced to reduce the cost, complexity, and risk of deploying JD Edwards world-class solutions on IBM i. It provides a complete hardware and software solution, it is quick and easy to implement, and it provides powerful POWER7 based technology at a lower cost than competing solutions. For further information see the IBM i Solution Editions website.
The benchmark results for these servers show strong performance and scalability. On a Power 720 Express running at 3.0 Ghz, a one core configuration was able to run 300 web-client based users. Two and four core configurations ran 600 and 1200 web-client based users respectively. All of the response times were subsecond. These results are now available on IBM TechDocs. Please refer to the Benchmarks section below.
The IBM i Solution Edition for JD Edwards also includes installation of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software by a trained expert using the new “Rapid Install” process. This process allows for installation to be completed in days instead of weeks, reduces the complexity of managing fixes, and provides an installed EnterpriseOne image which has been pretested by IBM and Oracle. This offering is planned for 2011.
IBM Lab Services provide a variety of services that can be tailored for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne installations including the following:
