IBM® tests Windows® operating system service packs on the Integrated xSeries® Server (IXS) System x™ models attached via the Integrated xSeries Adapter (IXA) and BladeCenter® and System x models attached via the iSCSI host bus adapter shortly after they are released by Microsoft®.

Note: When a new service pack for the operating system is released by Microsoft, the prior operating system service pack will continue to be supported for use with the IXS, IXA and iSCSI for a minimum of 6 months. After that time, IBM may withdraw support for the prior operating system service pack on IXS, IXA and iSCSI servers.

The specific operating system service packs that are currently supported for each Windows version are listed below.

Windows Server 2008
At the time of this writing, Microsoft has not released a service pack for Windows Server 2008. After Microsoft releases a service pack for Windows Server 2008, IBM will first test it for compatibility with IBM i integrated servers and then a support statement will be added to this web page.

Windows Server 2003

SP2: IBM is supporting Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 Service pack 2 (SP2) on the Integrated xSeries Server for iSeries™, System x models attached via the Integrated xSeries Adapter for iSeries and BladeCenter® and System x models attached via the iSCSI host bus adapter.

Note: PTFs are required to enable use of SP2 for integrated server installations. See the IBM i PTFs page for the required PTFs for each release. Also, since SP2 includes the SP1 security changes, additional configuration is required to enable SP2 on integrated Windows servers. See the IBM i integration with BladeCenter and System x Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 page for details.

SP1: IBM is supporting Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 Service pack 1 (SP1) on the Integrated xSeries Server for iSeries™, System x models attached via the Integrated xSeries Adapter for iSeries and BladeCenter® and System x models attached via the iSCSI host bus adapter.

Note:Additional configuration is required to enable SP1 on integrated Windows servers. For i5/OS V5R3, PTFs are also required. See the IBM i integration with BladeCenter and System x Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 page for details.

Windows 2000 Server

IBM is supporting Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4) on the Integrated xSeries Server for iSeries, the Integrated Netfinity® Server for AS/400® and System x models attached via the Integrated xSeries Adapter for iSeries.
