Tested optical devices for iSCSI attached Linux servers

The IBM i integration support for BladeCenter® and System x models that are attached to the IBM i platform via iSCSI host bus adapters (iSCSI HBAs) allows native Linux® applications to access IBM i optical devices. This page shows the IBM i optical devices that have been tested with iSCSI attached Linux servers.

Tested optical devices
The following table shows the IBM i optical devices and associated operating system versions that have been tested with the IBM i iSCSI solution.

The operating system version used for testing is:
  • SLES 9: SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 9, using the default SR optical driver.

Optical Device Name and/or Type-Model Operating System¹ Testing Status²

Table footnotes:

¹ Operating System column: Lists the operating system version that was used for testing.

² Testing Status column: Lists how extensively the listed device/operating system combination has been tested by IBM.

Tested:

IBM has performed extensive testing of the devices using the listed operating system version. IBM is confident that it will work in a customer environment.

Compatible:

IBM has performed limited testing of a representative subset of similar devices using the listed operating system version. IBM is reasonably confident that it will work effectively in a customer environment. However, problems may or may not be present with this device and operating system version combination. Problems, if present, may not be resolvable.

Additional information

IBM i optical devices that are not listed in the table above are not supported with the IBM i iSCSI solution.
