700 MHz Integrated xSeries Server

The Integrated xSeries® Server for iSeries™ has an Intel® processor and PC memory, but these are packaged on a motherboard to fit inside IBM System i™ (iSeries) models. Device drivers are provided to share the IBM i hard disks, LAN adapter, CD-ROM and tape drives.

The Integrated xSeries Server has an Intel Pentium® III 700 MHz processor with 256K of on-chip L2 cache, a 100 MHz front side bus (FSB) and S3 Savage4 video adapter with 32 MB of video RAM. Up to 3 hot plug LAN adapters are supported with options for 4/16/100 Mbps token-ring and 10/100 Mbps Ethernet. Two Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports are available for connection of various devices, including printers. The Integrated xSeries Server has four memory slots supporting 128 MB, 256 MB and 1 GB ECC SDRAM memory for up to 4 GB total memory.

The 700 MHz Integrated xSeries Server requires i5/OS™ V4R5 or later and is supported in most Power servers.

The 700 MHz Integrated xSeries server supports Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003 and Windows® 2000 Server.

The Integrated xSeries Server requires a monitor, keyboard and mouse to be attached for the Windows console.

* Each Integrated xSeries Server will consume resources on the Power server system. The actual number of Integrated xSeries Servers that a IBM i can support will depend on the available IBM i resources and the workload of the Integrated xSeries Servers. See  Chapter 17, Integrated BladeCenter® and System x™ Performance in the PDF file  System i Performance Capabilities Reference to determine the IBM i solution impact of integrating xSeries servers.
** The Total IXS in Main CEC number denotes how many Integrated xSeries Servers can be installed in the main system unit. Installing the maximum number of Integrated xSeries Servers may require one or more expansion towers.
*** The Total IXS and Total IXS in Main CEC numbers include other supported IXS feature codes for IXS models that are not listed on this page.
