RE3150 - Using the IBM Store Integrator Graphical User Interface

This interactive course will help you build the skills you need to perform basic modifications to the Store Integrator GUI (SI GUI) screens for IBM point-of-sale applications. You will learn the purpose and architecture of SI GUI, how to install it, how to set up your development system, how to use XML and properties files to modify the appearance and action of the application screens, and much more. The course includes many simulations to let you experience the tasks required during the course hands-on exercises before actually performing them on your development system.

This downloadable course is designed for technical personnel who are implementing the SI GUI to provide a full screen touch interface to their POS application.

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

• Install the SI GUI product on 4680-4690 Supermarket Application (SA), 4680-4690 General Sales Application (GSA), or SurePOS™ Application Client/Server Environment (ACE), as appropriate for your environment
• Describe the steps required to set up your development system so that you can modify the SI GUI files
• Use XML and xmlspy to create and modify SI GUI screens
• Use properties files to make screen characteristics easy to change
• Implement and test your chabges on the 4690 POS platform
• Modify both the Operator and Customer GUIs for a dual-display environment
• Describe where to find information about extending the function of the SI GUI

Before you take this course, you should:

• Be familiar with software and hardware installation and configuration in the 4690 Operating System environment
• Have at least a working knowledge of the sales application you will be using with SI GUI (SA, GSA, ACE)
• Familiarity with XML will be helpful, but is not required.

a 4690 POS system and a Windows development system available to
perform the installation and exercises. See Module 1 of the course for a full list of recommended hardware and software.
