xSeries Power Configurator - version 4.4.2.47 Installation Information: The xSeries Power Configurator (program) can only be installed by using the self-extracting setup file. If you are trying to install the program and already have a previous version of the program installed, you must either first uninstall the program from the “Add or Remove Programs” in the Control Panel, or run the installer and select the remove option to uninstall the old program and then run the installer again to install the new version. ********** To view the full contents of a drop down selection box, place your cursor over the box and the contents will appear. Microsoft Excel is required for this program to run correctly, having the Excel viewer is not sufficient. Display Resolution must be at least 800 x 600 for all windows to be viewable. ********** Power Definitions: Idle Power: Power drawn with the machine(s) logged into the OS, and no other applications running. Memory, HDDs, optical drives, & tape drives are not being utilized. Measured Max Power: Maximum measured power is the power drawn by the machine with the CPUs 100% utilized & memory is utilized 10% more than base utilization. The exerciser used is Prime95 (torture test) and can be downloaded from www.mersenne.org. Rated System Maximum: The maximum power able to be drawn by the machine according to the system label rating. Min CFM: The amount of air moved with the fans and/or blowers running at their minimum or nominal speed. Max CFM: The maximum amount of air moved with the fans and/or blowers running at their absolute maximum. This condition only exists when the inlet air temp rises above a threshold set in the server, or a fault condition exists. Fully Redundant: Power is shared equally by all power supplies, and in the event of a power supply failure, the remaining power supplies carry the server power load without performance impact. Redundant with Performance Impact: Power is shared equally by all power supplies, and in the event of a power supply failure, the system performance must be reduced so as not to exceed the rating of the remaining power supplies. Non Redundant: Power is supplied by multiple power supplies, and in the event of a power supply failure the remaining power supplies cannot supply the required power to the system and all or part of the system shuts down. Known Problems: When installing the program over an existing installation, you get an installation error if you choose “Repair” on the installation screen. The solution for this is to choose “Remove” or to uninstall the program from the control panel.
