Dense 12U space- saving design |
- With 12 server bays, this enclosure allows you to pack up to 36 2-socket servers into an industry-standard, 42U telecom rack.

- Support for four blade families, including Intel servers, AMD servers, POWER servers and workstation blades. Allows you to select the blades based on what best fits the application workloads.

- Virtualization capability allows you to “virtualize everything” for a more flexible, better utilized and potentially lower-cost IT infrastructure with a common management construct.

- Extensive compatibility with the family of BladeCenter blades, switches, storage, I/O and ecosystem partnership offerings.

- Features a 90 mm thick bezel (option), housing a customer-replaceable filter for added reliability and cable management trays to simplify cable routing, which attaches to the front of the BladeCenter HT chassis and supports the deployment of I/O cabling inside the chassis “envelope” to maintain operational integrity of the system.

IBM Cool Blue technology |
- Helps you plan, manage and control power and cooling in the central office—assisting in the greening of IT and networking.

- Cool Blue’s Web-based Power Configurator accurately predicts the power and cooling required for specific configurations thereby enabling realistic planning of the proper power and cooling infrastructure.

- IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager™ tracks actual power usage, temperatures and heat emitted, and trends these items over time so you can actively manage power and cooling with real information.

- Also, IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager will manage through power incidents (e.g., brownouts, supply failures) to help users avoid outages due to power and cooling issues.

- IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager also provides the capability to cap and virtually allocate power, as required. This capability helps maximize server usage within a restricted power envelope often found in a telecommunications environment.

Green, energy-efficient design |
- BladeCenter HT supports a very broad portfolio of low-voltage processor options, helping enable customers to lower their power usage without sacrificing performance.1

- BladeCenter HT uses power supplies that are as much as 90% efficient so that much less power is wasted as heat. Not only is more power available for chassis use, but also there is less power wasted as excess heat output.

- Blower/fan modules in the chassis adjust to compensate for changing thermal characteristics. At lower speeds they draw less power and suffer less wear.

IBM Open Fabric |
- Delivers a flexible, open, connected infrastructure to help optimize application performance.

- BladeCenter HT supports many different fabrics including: Ethernet, Fibre Channel, InfiniBand and iSCSI.

- New Brocade and QLogic NPIV Fibre Channel switches help simplify SAN deployment and management.

- A wide variety of connectivity choices including the industry’s only integrated 10 Gb Ethernet solution for blade servers plus new 10 Gb iSCSI support for Linux®.

High-performance, high availability backplane |
- Supports more than 1.2 Tbps data throughput on the backplane.

- Provides a fault-tolerant, dual-star connection from the blade servers through the backplane to modular components in the chassis.

- Flexibly designed backplane provides support for you to upgrade to new technologies as your needs change.

- Hot-swappable active components help reduce service time.

New high-speed switch module support |
- BladeCenter HT contains all the fabrics that BladeCenter customers are used to seeing; in addition, the chassis supports up to four new 10 Gigabit Ethernet-connected fabrics.

- 10 Gigabit Ethernet delivers low-latency, high-speed, high-performance access all the way to each blade (40 Gbps per blade).
New high-speed bridge module bays |
- Up to two bridge modules allow customers to create a high-speed fabric between BladeCenter HT chassis and virtualize that single fabric into their traditional Ethernet and fabric interconnects.

- Allows for I/O consolidation and virtualization across multiple chassis making it even easier to scale as solution needs change.

Media Tray |
- One ships standard with BladeCenter HT (redundant tray optional)

- Chassis allows new blades to share simultaneous access to the media tray for hassle-free local access (cKVM)

- Optional compact flash (1 GB/4 GB)

- 2 USB ports

- No DVD/CD tray
