The community speaks

"In this System z announcement cycle, IBM has made several bold statements, not only for the new entry system, the zBC12, but also with many across-the-board enhancements that forcefully position the zEnterprise portfolio to meet the emerging challenges facing modern enterprises remaking themselves to deal with new customer engagement models. Many of these enhancements are delivered via the new z/OS Version 2.1."

- Mike Kahn,
Managing Director, The Clipper Group

"We use the numerous zEnterprise security components to help reduce our overall risk. For example, Encryption on zEnterprise is critical to our company success to allow us to protect customer privacy data while it is stored on our mainframe and while it is exchanged with other parties for processing."

- Todd Handel
Director, IT Strategy and Architecture,
SC Data Center,
Colony Brands

"Using Linux and the IBM z/VM® operating system on IBM System z, the city created a customized cloud environment which provides a scalable and secure self-service platform on which employees can develop open source applications. The cloud architecture also empowered the general public to create and deploy citizen-centric applications."

- Gordon Bruce,
CIO of Honolulu’s
Department of Information Technology

"We deployed our production business analytics environment on System z within 11 days, providing us with an efficient platform that ensures the flexibility, availability and reliability that our users demand. Creating a new Cognos server used to take months, and now it takes just hours."

- Adrienne DiPrima,
Manager, Strategic Technologies Support, Miami Dade

"RFG believes the new IBM zEnterprise BC12 system should be considered a disruptive technology for mid-sized enterprises and above. Using the zBC12 as the corporate data server can reduce operating costs by half while providing a single data source, enabling companies to build better customer experiences and improve data quality."

- Cal Braunstein,
Chairman and CEO, Robert Frances Group

"The IBM zEnterprise EC12 showcases all of the major System z differentiators: powerful processing; advanced reliability, availability and serviceability; enhanced security; efficiency at scale; and most important, the ability to optimally run and manage a wide range of workloads across System z and heterogeneous environments."

- Joe Clabby,
President, Clabby Analytics

"Our two mainframes host 100 virtual servers, replacing at least 50 under-utilised x86 machines....this ultimately means that we're making better use of taxpayer money."

- Tim Simpson,
IT Support Manager, Dundee City Council

"The value of an information system is in how efficiently and cost effectively it can run workloads. With IBM's new software enhancements in analytics, mobile computing, cloud and security, and with IBM's new lower-cost zEnterprise BC12, IBM is delivering one of the most efficient and cost-effective information systems environments in the industry."
