You are encouraged to work with your IBM rep for Power Systems who will collate the information necessary for IBM to approve the promotional pricing. Qualifying Power Systems Products & Pricing
Eight configurations are offered for discount under this promotion – four “small” and “large” configurations of Power Systems models 710, 720, 730 and 740. The difference between the “small” and “large” configuration of a given server model is memory size. Small configuration machines are suitable for example for supporting between 10 and 50 Cognos BI users. The large configuration machines can support between 50 and 200 Cognos BI users. Deciding which specific model to choose will be dictated by application performance and system expansion requirements plus budget. You are strongly urged to work with your IBM Rep who can help with server sizing and selection. You remain responsible for ensuring normal sizing procedures are followed to ensure the configuration selected is suitable for deploying the analytics workload within your business. The tables below list the system configurations in more detail. You may increase the specification of the server by adding more CPU cores, memory, I/O features and system software, but at initial order time only. The increased specification server will attract the same level of discount as the corresponding machine models listed below. You may also substitute IBM i for AIX to run SPSS C&DS. You may not reduce the hardware or software specification below the minimums listed below.
