Smarter systems for a Smarter Planet

Maximum memory for unmatched virtualisation capabilities

As your company grows, so does pressure on your data centre. You may find that you need to add more and more server capacity to meet these demands. But more servers lead to an escalating systems management burden, increasing server sprawl, and growing power consumption during a time of soaring energy costs.

With virtualisation on IBM System x® and BladeCenter®, new workloads do not have to mean new servers.

IBM solutions allow you to meet the demands of your business – today and tomorrow – while helping you keep cost and complexity under control. With System x and BladeCenter systems, you get:

IBM BladeCenter HS22V

The HS22V is a high-performance blade server designed specifically for use in virtualised environments. It supports up to 2 Intel Xeon 5600 series processors, high-capacity/high-throughput memory (up to 288GB), high-performance/high-reliability SSDs, and high-speed I/O, including IBM Virtual Fabric.

IBM eX5 systems optimised for virtualisation

IBM System x and BladeCenter workload optimised systems for virtualisation are preconfigured, pretested configurations, optimised to deliver more partitions and larger workloads. Containing the right balance of processing power, memory and I/O, and pretested with VMware software, these server configurations can help reduce your expenses with no trade-offs to business productivity. And unlike the competition, IBM provides you with the opportunity to order a pre-integrated system that is easy-to-deploy, containing all the necessary components to get your business-critical workloads up and running within minutes.

IBM BladeCenter Foundation for Cloud

The IBM BladeCenter Foundation for Cloud provides an integrated, pre-loaded system with software, servers, storage, networking, and start-up services to help you take the guesswork out of establishing a virtualised data center environment. Multiple configuration sizes are available to meet your organisation's specific needs. Standard configurations offer the ability to scale up to 2,000 virtual machines or more, while all configurations can scale and extend to a cloud environment without requiring rip-and-replace of the infrastructure.

1 IBM SmartCloud is the family name for IBM cloud offerings. We refer to our key entry level cloud offering as "IBM SmartCloud Entry delivered by IBM Starter Kit for Cloud x86 Edition", which was the formal name of the product at launch. We will be officially changing the product name to "IBM SmartCloud Entry for System x" at the end of 2Q12.
