You want to innovate to stay ahead of the competition, but like many organisations today, too much of your IT budget is spent managing server sprawl. You need to run more workloads without more servers, support more users and manage more equipment with a smaller IT staff.
One way to address these challenges is to converge compute, storage and networking resources so you can manage your IT as a single pool of highly utilised resources. But you need to do so on your terms—not your IT vendor's.
IBM® BladeCenter® is an ideal platform for server and network virtualisation and consolidation:
- A BladeCenter solution can be managed from a single point for physical and virtual resources to help save administration costs.
- 2002-era blades can run in today's chassis, and most of today's blades can run in 2002-era chassis1 —for the ultimate in investment protection.
- A BladeCenter solution can eliminate up to 92 percent of all networking cables required by 1U rack-optimised servers.2
- A BladeCenter solution can reduce your floor space demands by more than half.3
- BladeCenter uses a shared power and cooling infrastructure in the chassis to support extraordinary energy efficiency.
What's new
IBM BladeCenter HS23E
The BladeCenter HS23E is a new all-purpose two-socket blade server ideal for entry to mid-level workloads such as infrastructure and retail applications. It offers flexible configuration options to provide performance for value. Combine HS23E with BladeCenter E for a highly energy efficient platform or with BladeCenter S for a ready-to-order, office-in-a-box solution. And the HS23E is compatible with all IBM chassis, including the original BladeCenter E. If your applications are struggling to run on older one-socket and two-socket systems, the HS23E can help increase the performance and efficiency of your workloads.
IBM BladeCenter HS23
The BladeCenter HS23 is a two-socket blade server optimised for performance and flexibility to run a variety of workloads well. The combination of integrated 10 GbE Virtual Fabric, 16 memory slots, and the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 product family make the HS23 ideal for virtualisation and cloud computing. While the HS23 is compatible with all our BladeCenter chassis, it’s a great match with our high performance chassis when you need to run compute-intensive applications quickly and efficiently.
IBM BladeCenter servers
IBM offers a choice of blade servers offering a range of performance levels and features, so you can select exactly the right servers for the workloads you need to support, even mixing and matching them in a single chassis.
IBM BladeCenter chassis
The flexible, open BladeCenter ecosystem includes a choice of chassis to meet a variety of needs, including chassis for data centers, retail stores or remote sites and non-traditional environments. Though each chassis supports a full range of servers, they offer different feature sets to address a range of business challenges.
IBM BladeCenter networking, storage and systems management
IBM offers an extensive set of options to complete your BladeCenter solutions, including multiple Gigabit Ethernet, 10 GbE, Fibre Channel, FCoE, InfiniBand, iSCSI and SAS offerings from the biggest names in networking. BladeCenter Open Fabric Manager helps you simply manage your sophisticated network, automating blade network provisioning and bandwidth allocation. Storage options include enterprise disk systems, Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Network (SAN) systems. And the entire solution can be managed with IBM Systems Director.
