Abstract: There are multiple secure protocols available to authenticate, provide confidentiality, and to ensure data integrity of data in transit: IPSec, SSL/TLS (or AT-TLS), and Secured Shell (SSH or OpenSSH). This documents positions them, explaining the differences among them in terms of not only their functionality but also in how they use hardware cryptography on the System z platform.
