Abstract: The proof of concept solution described in this paper is designed to illustrate how the IBM Storwize V7000 storage system coupled with IBM PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX, can help meet demanding enterprise high availability (HA) requirements for Oracle Database. With PowerHA SystemMirror providing the ability to automatically detect server resource failures, then move the database instance from the failed server image to a functioning IBM Power system in the cluster, and Storwize V7000 providing shared concurrent volume functionality, the system administrator has powerful tools to avoid or minimize planned and unplanned outages to business-critical Oracle databases.
