Abstract: IBM’s Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager (FCM) for Windows on XIV storage solution helps system, storage and backup administrators anticipate and quickly resolve integrity and data loss misfortunes. FCM generates split-second snapshot backups with negligible performance impact to Microsoft’s most popular business critical server applications - SQL and Exchange. FCM’s application-awareness for both SQL and Exchange takes advantage of Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) framework via simple and intuitive plug-in interfaces. As a result, companies can afford to place greater emphasis on customers and more meaningful matters outside of daily data concerns.
