Abstract: This sales oriented paper introduces IBM®’s latest POWER7™ microprocessor and the IBM Power 750 Systems built on the POWER7 chip and illustrates the key performance benefits of deploying Oracle® Retail Markdown Optimization (MDO) version 13.1 on the IBM AIX 6.1/POWER7 platform.
The MDO application was run with three different data volumes on IBM Power 570 and on IBM Power 750 and the throughput improvements are shown. An additional test series was executed to evaluate the run time impact of Simultaneous Multi Threading on the MDO application; SMT-off, SMT-2 and SMT-4 were run on the 750 and the results are presented.
