Abstract: This paper documents the findings of a proof-of-concept test of active migrations of a mobile logical partition (LPAR) hosting an Oracle database running on an IBM Power™ Systems server. The paper describes the configuration and settings used in the test. Operational procedures are covered in detail in “IBM PowerVM Live Partition Mobility” Redbook, IBM publication number SG24-7460-00. The audience is recommended to refer to the Redbook to get familiar with Live Partition Mobility (LPM).
