Abstract: The white paper, “DB2 9 and XML DB2 9 and z/OS XML System Services Synergy”, was published in August, 2007, http://www.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex/WP101088. It focused on initial measurements for pureXML™ technology using DB2® Version 9.1 for z/OS® (DB2 9 hereafter) as an exploiter of z/OS XML System Services. Its successor paper, “DB2 9 and z/OS XML System Services Synergy Update”, http://www.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex/WP101227, published in March, 2008, was updated to add more XML benchmarks. It illustrates how the DB2 accounting reports as well as RMF Workload Activity Report show the breakdown of CPU that ran on GP engines and on specialty engines.
This white paper should be considered an addendum. It describes the support provided in z/OS Version 1.10 that enables redirection of z/OS XML System Services parsing to the zIIP specialty engines for applications that run as enclave SRBs, primarily DB2 workloads using DRDA. It should be read in conjunction with “DB2 9 and z/OS XML System Services Synergy Update” at http://www.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex/WP101227, that contains most of the technical details about the workload and methodology used, as well as prior results |
