Abstract: Using DVS to test rulesets that do not need an explicit BOM and use primitive types for ruleset parameters may lead to problems.

Symptom
When using Rule Designer to test a ruleset in that has no BOM and uses primitive types for its parameters, the execution of an Excel based scenario may yield in exceptions during the DVS execution. From the description of these exceptions, it seems as if the DVS runtime cannot find the BOM definitions.

Cause

n/a

Environment

The problem has been reproduced on IBM WebSphere Operational Decision Manager V7.5 and V8.0.

Resolving the problem

To resolve the problem, it suffices to create an empty BOM entry in the ruleset. This BOM entry does not need to define any classes or packages.
