Abstract: Normally the interface ID used and displayed in remote mirror and copy commands (like lspprcpath, mkpprcpathand lsavailpprcport) is the same as the IOportnumber. The IOportnumber is in the format EESP where EE is the enclosure (ranging from 00 to 07), S is the slot number (ranging from 0 to 5) and P is the port number (ranging from 0 to 3 and 0 to 7, for 4 and 8 port cards respectively). However if the source machine is a DS8100 or DS8300 connecting to an 8 port card on a remote DS8800 then the lower four ports xxx4 -xxx7 on the 8 port card require special handling.

The rule is to add hex 0x07FC to the IOportnumber xxx4-xxx7 on the DS8800. Another way to express this is to add 8 to the enclosure ID and subtract 4 from the port ID of the lower ports on the 8 port card (note the enclosure ID is hexadecimal so it ranges from 0 to F).  One way to avoid having to use these special interface IDs is to only use the upper 4 ports of an 8 port adapter (ports 0 to 3) for remote mirror and copy paths when one of the mirror partners is an ESS800, DS8100 or DS8300.
