Abstract: In order to get full functionality of solid state drives (SSDs) the following minimum requirements must be in place.

Minimum POWER6 processor firmware level 520 – EL340_075 550 – EL340_075 560 – EM340_075 570 – EM340_075 595 – EH340_075 + EB340_078 HMC – V7R3.4.0 service pack 2, fix level MH01162 V5R4M5 LIC and V5R4 OS Cumulative PTF package C9104540 or later Respin RS545-F LIC, RS540-30 OS. Note: you need to make sure you have these CDs available in the event you need to reload your system. You do not have to reinstall if you are at the cumulative PTF level listed above.
