Abstract: WebSphere for z/OS uses the PARM= string on the EXEC statement to pass information to the program being invoked as well as setting the Language Environment (LE) options. As a result, there is often contention for the 100 characters of space allowed for the PARM string. Fortunately, z/OS 1.7 provides an alternative mechanism for setting the LE options that is much simpler to use than specifying through JCL.
