Abstract: The IBM Business Process Manager Advanced: Process Server for z/OS Version 8.0.1 is the latest offering of the Business Process Management (BPM) product suite on the z/OS platform. Combined with the IBM Process Designer, IBM Integration Designer, and Process Center Advanced are used to Author, Develop, and Deploy BPM applications on z/OS.
This workshop describes and demonstrates the construction of a BPM Solution using these products on z/OS. This workshop provides understanding to plan, implement and configure the Process Server V 8 in your z/OS environment, and to deploy and test BPM applications.
The hands-on lab exercises help build a working Process Server on the lab z/OS systems, using a WebSphere Application Server V8 Network Deployment cell which the students will also configure. There are also useful configuration and troubleshooting tips to improve the success when installing BPM at your home site.

  • Understand how BPM:Process Server for z/OS V8 is implemented and configured.
  • Learn how the IBM Process Designer and the IBM Integration Designer Tool (IID) are used to create a business process; the application artifacts that are created, and how the business process is deployed to the WPS runtime engine.
COURSE OUTLINE (Presentations and hands-on labs are intermixed.)
  • Provide a quick overview of WebSphere Application Server (WAS) V8 on z/OS and the Workshop environment
  • Present a technical overview of BPM Process Server on z/OS, and Process Center including Process Designer and Integration Designer (IID.)
  • Install, configure and administer BPM: Process Server in a WAS for z/OS Network Deployment Environment.
  • Administrative Console Overview
  • Overview of the IBM Process Designer and IBM Integration Designer (IID) Application Development Tools
  • Learn how to include Human involvement in a Business Process
  • Learn how to debug, troubleshoot, and tune BPM:PS. Use tools and scripts that have been written by Advanced Technical Skills team and the product developers to aide in the install process.
