IBM PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX and Linux Adds Support for the IBM Power 9 Family of Servers
March 23, 2018
IBM PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX and Linux* V7.2.2 adds support for the new IBM Power 9 family of servers.
This support announcement is for PowerHA SystemMirror version v7.2 products. PowerHA 7.1.3 is reaching end of support(EoS) in April 2018 and hence it is not part of this Flash support statement. If you plan to purchase support extension for 7.1.3 work through the extended support process for Power 9 support.
Recommended PowerHA level is:
PowerHA v7.2.2
Note that Linux support requires LPARs be configured to use POWER8 Compatibility Mode. IBM plans to remove this restriction in a future release.
Only Little Endian versions of above Linux distros are supported.
For requirements regarding the level of AIX needed for Power 9 support, refer to AIX related support publications.
This support is based on the requirement that deployment meets the generic clustering requirements. Examples of which are:
Ensure that redundant network communication links between the cluster nodes is available and operating correctly
If multicast based v7 cluster is deployed, mping based multicast packet communication check should pass for more than 5 minutes (some routers block multicast traffic after 3 minutes or so)
Clients are advised to obtain the latest service updates for this support.
