HACMP supported on new IBM POWER5+ technology

August 23, 2006

IBM announced the new IBM POWER5+* technology for select IBM System p5* servers on July 25th. High Availability Cluster Multiprocessor (HACMP*) for AIX 5L*, Version 5.2, V5.3 and V5.4, and HACMP for Linux, V5.4 is supported on the following new processors:
  • IBM System p5 505 and 505Q (9115-505)
  • IBM System p5 510 and 510Q (9110-510 and 9110-51A)
  • IBM System p5 520 and 520Q (9111-520 and 9131-52A)
  • IBM System p5 550 and 550Q (9113-550 and 9133-55A)
  • IBM System p5 560Q (9116-561)
  • IBM System p5 570 (9115-570)
  • IBM System p5 590 and 595 (9119-590 and 9119-595)
  • IBM System p5 285 (9111-285)

It is recommended to obtain the latest service updates for this support. Please refer to the following table for details.

Notes:
  • The p5-505, p5-510, p5-510Q, p5-520, p5-550, p5-550Q, p5-560Q, and p5-570 integrated serial ports are not enabled when the HMC ports are connected to a Hardware Management Console (HMC). Either the HMC ports or the integrated serial ports can be used, but not both. Moreover, the integrated serial ports are supported only for modem and async terminal connections. Any other applications using serial ports, including HACMP, require a separate serial port adapter to be installed in a PCI slot.
  • The integrated SCSI and ethernet adapters on these products are supported with HACMP.
