Abstract: The new USA Energy Policy Act of 2005 has changed Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the USA beginning in 2007. Canada and Bermuda are implementing the same change.

** Updated March 1, 2007 **

These new dates are NOT observed in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and by most of Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona).

The State of Indiana, which used to be split with a portion of the state observing DST and the other half not, is now whole. In the past, counties in the Eastern Time Zone portion of the state did not observe DST. They were on standard time year round. A state law was passed in 2005 that has the entire state of Indiana observing DST beginning in April 2006.

DST Prior to 2007:
DST Began - 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of April.
DST Ended - 2 a.m. on the last Sunday of October.

Beginning in 2007:
DST Begins - 2 a.m. on the second Sunday of March.
DST Ends - 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of November.

IBM has created a focal point website for all DST2007 related information. http://www.ibm.com/support/alerts/us
Users should investigate this website for all IBM equipment and software notices related to DST2007.

z9 EC and z9 BC:
Required MCLs prior to the new DST change beginning in March 2007.
SE code - G40717.001
SE code - J99678.003
HMC code - G40716.001

Hardware Management Console (HMC):
HMCs running at Driver 63L or Driver 64X are affected. Other HMC Driver levels are unaffected.

If at Driver 63L, install Driver 64X HMC AROM EC G4104C CNTL0005
If at Driver 64X with EC stream G40103, install Driver 64X HMC AROM EC G4104C CNTL0005
If at Driver 64X with EC stream G40716, install MCL G40716.001

Note: The following machine types can be defined to HMC Driver 63L and 64X: M/T 2094, 2096, 2084, 2086, 2064, 2066, 9672-xx6 (S/390 G5) and 9672-xx7 (S/390 G6).

9037 Sysplex Timers:
Customers are responsible to schedule the DST offset at the appropriate time at the 9037 console. This is business as usual.

Server Time Protocol (STP):
If you are using STP which has the option of automatically scheduling DST based on your timezone, the general availability (GA) code level supports the changes to DST. STP is a feature which can be ordered on M/T 2094, 2096, 2084, 2086.

Trusted Key Entry (TKE) Workstation:
TKE workstations at versions 3.0, 3.1, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 and 5.0 are affected.

If at TKE V5.0 EC level G34192, install EC D76366 (ECA 250).
After successful installation, the EC level will be G40716.

All other TKE versions will require manual updates. Please see the following instructions:
Instructions to Configure DST for TKE.March_1_2007.pdf

Note: The following machine types can be used with TKE V3.0 through V4.2 workstations : M/T 2084, 2086, 2064, 2066, 9672-xx6 (S/390 G5) and 9672-xx7 (S/390 G6). TKE workstations at TKE V5.0 can be used with M/T: 2094, 2096. 2084, 2086, 2064, and 2066.
