 RFID Solution Centers
Austin, Texas—Solutions Experience Lab. This center demonstrates RFID solutions that stimulate innovative thinking in real-world settings such as fleet optimization and pharmaceutical track and trace. Also included are supply chain, healthcare, and energy and utilities. Goals are to extend off-the-shelf IBM solutions and highlight IBM’s unique brand and services capabilities. The center participates in client briefings for IBM business solutions, IBM hardware, software and services, and IBM Business Partner RFID hardware and applications.
Boeblingen, Germany—RFID Solution Deployment Center. This center specializes in the deployment of RFID technologies and in lab services for cross-industry customer engagements. Center capabilities include consulting and deployment services for RFID technologies during proofs of concept and pilot projects, and executing supply chain use cases under customer conditions.
Charlotte, North Carolina—Wireless PilotCenter. This center is a pilot (quick-start) site for wireless-related solutions such as RFID-based asset tracking. The center also hosts client briefings and demonstrations.
Dallas, Texas—RFID Global Solution Center. This center specializes in complex business solutions, with an RFID focus on retail, consumer products, automotive, electronics and government industries. Certified information technology architects and specialists representing a breadth of expertise are available to conduct briefings and workshops.
Dublin Ireland—RFID and Wireless Centre of Excellence. Located on the IBM Technology Campus in Dublin, this center specializes in solution development, implementation and consultancy services for wireless and RFID technologies. The focus is on solutions that service asset tracking, supply chain, and track-and-trace applications. It also provides RFID test and demonstration facilities for IBM clients and includes the deployment of a live pilot for tracking mobile assets.
Hursley, U.K.—Emerging Technology Demo Lab and RFID Partner Centre. This center focuses on the synergy between RFID and asset monitoring and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) solutions. The RFID Partner Centre’s specialty is helping partners develop and demonstrate solutions utilizing the IBM RFID infrastructure. The centre has full data centre capabilities, including RFID equipment auditing. Also supported are deployment and scalability testing for partner solutions.
La Gaude, France—RFID and Industry Solution Center. La Gaude specializes in demonstrating the business value of multiple industry solutions using end-to-end live prototypes, with deep architecture skills on hand to discuss technical implications. The facility showcases a variety of RFID business and technical scenarios that show the importance of an end-to-end RFID architecture and the critical role of IBM RFID middleware. The center is designed to help clients understand the value and implications of major technologies on their customers and to demonstrate IBM RFID deployment capabilities.
Markham, Canada—Canadian RFID Centre. This center specializes in the food traceability of refrigerated and frozen consumer products for retail and distribution clients.
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina—Retail Innovation Center. This center specializes in retail store solutions. Experts are available for all retail store products, including point-of-sale (POS) systems, self-service solutions, software and more. Customized briefings and demonstrations encompass specific product focus and overall solutions including enablement of technologies such as RFID.
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina—Wireless Center of Excellence. This center specializes in hands-on experience and expertise in passive and active RFID solutions. This experience includes passive RFID testing in cross-sector areas with a focus on distribution. Testing determines recommended passive RFID tag and reader combinations for optimal tag readability, based on the unique characteristics of products being tagged. In active RFID, the center also has experience with real-time location systems (RTLS) that can find assets quickly within a defined area. RFID technology and technical experts are available to conduct training and consultation.
Seoul, Korea—Ubiquitous Computing Lab Sensor and Actuator Solutions/RFID Solution Center. The Seoul center specializes in sensor and actuator and RFID solution enablement and working with clients to deploy IBM sensor and actuator and RFID solutions. Center capabilities include consulting for optimal technology selection to alleviate customer pain points incurred in current business processes and physical infrastructure.
Washington, D.C.—Institute for Electronic Government Briefing Center. This center specializes in global public sector briefings with nearly 80% attendance being government clients. RFID specialists from all areas are available for briefing presentations, consultation and training as needed.
Yamato, Japan—RFID Solution Center. This center provides RFID technology solutions for a wide range of industries. Experts in areas of wireless technologies and sense and actuator released software are available to conduct training and consultation.
