Industry events

SHARE runs a special track for SAM, as do some regions in Guide/Share Europe. These are usually good sources of education. Some of the industry analyst firms run conferences that address SAM issues too.

IBM

IBM Global Services offers fee-based consulting on the use of the ITIL methodology. ITIL is one of the leading frameworks for IT service management, of which software asset management is one component. More details.

IBM also offers some software tools that can help you manage your software on the mainframe and other platforms. More details.

Consultants

There are several independent consultants in the business of providing hands-on, in depth assistance to clients in various aspects of Software Asset Management. This is not a recommendation by IBM, but rather a list (likely incomplete) of some of the consultants of which we are aware. While some people favor the use of consultants, others do not believe that the return justifies the expense. This is a decision that only you can make. If you decide to use a consultant, good business practice would dictate that you check references and perform other due diligence prior to engaging that consultant.

These firms are not agents of IBM. IBM is not responsible in any way for the results obtained engaging a consultant. Use of a consultant is at your sole risk.

And finally...
