Introduction

An 'acceptable use policy' exists so that you will know what to expect from your fellow participants in this mailing list, and they will know what to expect from you.

Participants

The purpose of this mailing list is to foster communications between those who buy zSeries/S390 software from Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). Accordingly, the participants are involved in Software Asset Management at customer companies and institutions which have a substantial IBM mainframe data center. To maintain an atmosphere that is conducive to open communication, IBM reserves the right to limit or restrict participation in this mailing list, in its sole discretion.

Content

You may post anything you wish related to the topic of mainframe ISV software asset management. But you are responsible for what you say. Remember, postings are not anonymous. Both your name and your e-mail address will appear in your posting. You must honor your contractual commitments at all times, including any obligation of non-disclosure. You may not use this forum to engage in any illegal or unethical activity.

Restrict your postings to the topic of zSeries/S390 ISV software asset management. Please use other mailing lists or Internet news groups for other topics. If you have a specific complaint about IBM, please talk to the folks in your local IBM office rather than post it to the mailing list.

Software negotiations can be an emotional activity but please do not use language that people may find offensive. Helpful hint: if you are steamed and feeling at your creative peak, write your e-mail but then save it for an hour before sending it.

Although participation in the mailing list is controlled by the ListMom, there are several hundred other people who will receive every item you post to the list. So, while this is not a public forum, neither is it a private confidential discussion. Also, the technology does not allow us to stop participants from forwarding or otherwise distributing what you write so be aware that your message could inadvertently wind up someplace where you didn't intend it to be. Of course, this type of internet communication is not secure either.

You should exercise good judgment if you forward a posting to anyone not on the mailing list. Normally you should delete anything that could identify the author. Remember, your recipients have not read this Acceptable Use Policy and may need to be reminded about appropriate use of the mail you forward.

You must not use this mailing list to sell your company's software or services unless responding to another member who specifically requested information on your offerings. This applies whether you post your response to the mailing list or reply privately to another member. You may not use e-mail addresses obtained through the use of this mailing list to sell your company's products. To be fair, this will apply to IBM too.

Summary

If you feel someone else is not abiding by this policy, please send a note to the ?list mom?, John Anderson at anderson@ca.ibm.com. Posting your comments to the mailing list for distribution to everyone else is inappropriate.

Any participant who violates this policy may be removed from the mailing list.

This Acceptable Use Policy is subject to change.

We hope you find this mailing list a valuable resource. If you have suggestions for improvements, please drop a note to the ?list mom? at anderson@ca.ibm.com.
