Distributed CICS transaction processing for mixed language applications

IBM® TXSeries for Multiplatforms V7.1 is a distributed CICS® transaction processor for mixed language applications. It provides simplified interoperability with IBM CICS Transaction Server, integrating data and applications between distributed solutions and enterprise systems, such as CICS and IMS. This scalable, high-performing, distributed transactional server can be integrated as a component of your service-oriented architecture (SOA).

TXSeries for Multiplatforms is a robust and extensible distributed transaction processing platform for deploying CICS applications written in C, C++, COBOL and PL/I. Components of TXSeries include CICS® SFS, a VSAM-emulating, record-oriented file system and CICS® OLTP, supporting the base-level CICS API with the fundamental transactional qualities of atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability. TXSeries allows you to:

• Reuse existing CICS applications and application programming skill sets in your organization consistent with corporate distributed platform policy.
• Develop, test and diagnose CICS applications using COBOL, PL/I, C, and C++ for deployment to CICS Transaction Server for z/OS.
• Use these distributed transactional services in a stand-alone environment, or in support of larger mainframe and Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) application deployments, with the ability to scale up to a centralized IBM.
• Increase the performance of CICS Transaction Server on z/OS with this connectivity that acts as a gateway, protecting it from client-originated disruption.
