Worklight 6.0 helps customers deliver higher quality, higher-impact apps by providing the industry’s first embedded testing, customer experience analytics, and lean geo-location capabilities.
New! Embedded functional testing
The accelerated delivery cycles of mobile applications requires fast and effective test cycles. Worklight 6.0 replaces what was previously tedious and time-consuming manual test processes with the industry’s first integrated mobile app testing capability.
Testing becomes a straightforward process:
- Either developers or testers record a sequence of actions on a mobile device.
- This recording becomes the basis of an intelligent, resilient and code-less test case that can be played back on demand on any iOS or Android device within the same OS family – and even on emulated devices.
New! Embedded customer experience analytics
Worklight 6.0 includes embedded customer experience analytics that provides user-centered views of performance and usage of mobile applications. Developers can instrument their mobile apps with an analytics framework that collects data as the app is being used.
The results of that data collection can be reported as IT diagnostics information – allowing organizations to track app usage and responsiveness by location. A sudden drop-off or low rate of usage can pinpoint a software defect.
The instrumentation framework can be easily extended with IBM Tealeaf CX Mobile to analyze mobile apps for greater marketing insight.
New! Geo-Location Toolkit
Geo-location data is one of the most powerful differentiators of mobile apps. Yet because coordinates must be constantly polled to understand where a mobile device is located, the resulting stream of information is difficult to manage without exhausting resources such as battery and network.
Worklight 6.0 provides a new geo-location toolkit that allows developers to efficiently collect geo-location data within the mobile app without exhausting mobile resources.
The new toolkit allows developers to set policies for acquiring geo data and send it in batch only when needed to trigger business actions.
The resulting apps can help organizations leverage geographic presence for business and operational insight.
And more…
In addition to these industry-leading enhancements, IBM Worklight 6.0 includes over a dozen enhancements that improve app development usability, ease of use, and functionality.
IBM Worklight consists of five main components:
- IBM Worklight Studio is an Eclipse-based IDE, allowing developers to perform all the coding and integration tasks that are required to develop a fully operational application.
- IBM Worklight Server is a scalable Java-based Server gateway between applications, external services, and the enterprise backend infrastructure. The Server contains security features to enable connectivity, multi-source data extraction and manipulation, authentication, direct update of web and hybrid apps, analytics and operational management functions.
- IBM Worklight Device Runtime Components consist of client-side runtime code that embeds server functionality within the target environment of deployed apps.
- IBM Worklight Application Center is an enterprise app store that helps organizations govern the distribution of production-ready mobile apps across the enterprise, elicit and organize user feedback. The Application Center can also be used by development teams to automate the distribution of pre-release software versions and analyze feedback by version and device, accelerating cycle time.
- IBM Worklight Console is a web-based UI dedicated for the ongoing monitoring and administration of the Worklight Server and its deployed apps, adapters and push notifications.
