IBM® Rational® Policy Tester Quality Edition automates the scanning, analysis and reporting of website content for issues that impact site effectiveness and usability. It helps ensure visitors to your site have a smooth, problem-free experience that encourages them to return. It allows you to identify and eradicate problems before your customers even know they exist.

Rational Policy Tester Quality Edition includes these reports:

  • Content defects—locates site defects that directly affect visitor activities such as broken links, spelling errors and broken anchors.
  • Interaction problems—tests user interactions to verify they are working properly. These include interactions that visitors might encounter when using forms or performing transactions such as checkout processes.
  • Page efficiency—provides an analysis of the overall page efficiency of the site such as slow-loading pages, and multiple warnings and redirects. Also analyzes usability issues including deep pages, and missing height and width attributes on images.
  • Search and navigation—analyzes critical search and navigation elements. Verifies that visitors will find what they need within the first three pages of search results, which is the documented tolerance for typical users.
  • Custom—aligns with your organization's internal quality standards. As needed, the IBM professional services team can help you create additional custom reports required by your organization.

Other prerequisites

Before installing the Enterprise Server, you must install the following IIS components (not required for servers running Scanning Agents only):

  • Common HTTP Features (all components except HTTP Redirection)
  • Application Development (ASP.NET, ISAPI Extensions, ISAPI Filters)
  • Health and Diagnostics (HTTP Logging, Request Monitor)
  • Security (Basic and Windows Authentication)
  • Performance (Static Content Compression)
  • Management Tools (IIS Management console)
  • IIS 6 Management Compatibility (All)
  • Before installing the Enterprise Server, you must download and install the .NET Framework 4.0 from the Microsoft website.
  • Ensure that ASP.Net is installed and enabled in IIS.

  • Approximately 4 GB for the AppScan Enterprise Server and Jazz Team Server
  • Approximately 10 GB of available hard-disk space for scan logs on the Dynamic Analysis Scanner
  • Approximately 200 GB of available hard-disk space on the system hosting the database (equals approximately 400,000 pages)
  • Approximately 330 MB for the Web Services Explorer –(to test Web Services for compliance issues)
