IBM® ILOG® JViews Maps for Defense provides high-performance Java map displays for use in mission-critical military applications. With the rich functionality of the base IBM ILOG JViews Maps product, this version delivers domain-specific functionality for military programs. User interface developers can create custom military command-and-control applications using high performance 2D and 3D map displays and data-aware symbols for updating position and status in real time.

IBM ILOG JViews Maps for Defense enables custom map displays for military applications using:

  • Military map readers —support multiple data formats, allowing import of military map data in land, air and naval formats used worldwide.
  • Pre-built military symbol sets —support standard military symbol sets and include prebuilt graphic objects representing NATO APP-6a/MIL STD 2525B symbols.
  • Terrain analysis—features extensible 2D analysis of the terrain including area of visibility, line of sight, gradient computation, elevations and more.
  • 3D map visualization—displays terrain in highly optimized 3D view using advanced techniques for adaptive terrain refinement and OpenGL-based hardware acceleration.
