  • Filters records based on the content of log and trace record extensions. Tracks the unique IDs of requests.

SecureWay® Security Server Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Server.

If your application environment uses a DB2® database, then DB2 Universal Database® (UDB) Server for OS/390® and z/OS, V7 (5675-DB2), or later, is required (may coexist with existing levels of DB2 programs used by other applications). CICS® Transaction Server (CICS TS)

If your application environment uses CICS TS, (5655-147), then CICS TS for OS/390 V2.2, (5697-E93), or later, is required.

If your application environment accesses CICS TS through the CICS Transaction Gateway (CICS TG) for z/OS, then CICS TG V6.0 or V6.1 (5655-M69) is required.

Information Management System (IMS™) — If your application environment accesses IMS through Java DataBase Connectivity (JDBC), or through IMS Connect/Connector for Java, then IMS V8 (5655-C56), or later, and appropriate maintenance is required. If, however, your application environment uses JCA 1.5, then IMS V9 (5655-J38) or later, and appropriate maintenance is required.

Liberty Profile for z/OS Trial

IBM® WebSphere Application Server for z/OS V8.5 is optimized for qualities of service with the tightly integrated pairing of IBM System z and the z/OS operating system. This version extends the functional equivalency of WebSphere Application for Network Deployment with enhanced capabilities for resiliency, workload management and advanced transaction integrity. V8.5 includes both the enhanced, lightweight Liberty profile and the full profile WebSphere Application Server for enabling unlimited load balancing across the server.

WebSphere Application Server for z/OS V8.5 has been enhanced with additional capabilities delivered in the service stream for V8.5, providing WebSphere Application Server for z/OS enhancements corresponding to WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V8.5.5.

  • Liberty profile enhancements including additional programming models and qualities of service to extend the Liberty profile beyond simple web applications.
  • Full profile enhancements including updates for improved resiliency, service integration, and caching capabilities.

Liberty profile enhancements:

  • Administrative features and management model to enable Liberty applications to grow into sophisticated production environments for improved qualities of service.
  • Certification to the Java EE 6 Web Profile, which includes new programming models such as EJB-Lite, Managed Beans, and Context and Dependency Injection (CDI)
  • Web services support through the JAX-WS Java EE API
  • New messaging capabilities, including MQ client support, support for Java Message Service (JMS) and message-driven beans and a new single server message provider
  • Ability to add Liberty features through a new system programming interface
  • Enhanced Liberty profile security capabilities
  • High Performance Extensible Logging (HPEL) for Liberty servers
  • Dynamic Web Cache support enabling simplified local caching
  • Asynchronous Work Management for enhanced resiliency and performance of applications via multi-threaded programming model.

Full profile enhancements:

  • Easier caching solution with entitlement to WebSphere eXtreme Scale for z/OS, enabling client connectivity to distributed eXtreme Scale servers
  • Intelligent Management for Web Servers feature enables On Demand Router (ODR) capabilities integrated in the WebSphere WebServer Plugin
  • Integrated Service Mapping, enabling basic service invocation, routing, and transformation
  • Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) serviceability improvements
