Optimized for qualities of service
IBM® WebSphere Application Server for z/OS V8.5 is optimized for qualities of service with the tightly integrated pairing of IBM System z and the z/OS operating system. This version extends the functional equivalency of WebSphere Application for Network Deployment with enhanced capabilities for resiliency, workload management and advanced transaction integrity. V8.5 includes both the enhanced, lightweight Liberty profile and the full profile WebSphere Application Server for enabling unlimited load balancing across the server.
WebSphere Application Server for z/OS V8.5 has been enhanced with additional capabilities delivered in the service stream for V8.5, providing WebSphere Application Server for z/OS enhancements corresponding to WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V8.5.5.
- Liberty profile enhancements including additional programming models and qualities of service to extend the Liberty profile beyond simple web applications.
- Full profile enhancements including updates for improved resiliency, service integration, and caching capabilities.

- Administrative features and management model to enable Liberty applications to grow into sophisticated production environments for improved qualities of service.
- Certification to the Java EE 6 Web Profile, which includes new programming models such as EJB-Lite, Managed Beans, and Context and Dependency Injection (CDI)
