Technical introduction

IBM® WebSphere® Extended Deployment Compute Grid provides operational efficiency through a controlled blend of batch and online processing on a shared infrastructure. This multifunction, multiplatform Java batch software can improve the operational efficiency of business transaction processing. By simultaneously executing batch jobs and online transactions, WebSphere Extended Deployment Compute Grid delivers a near real-time user experience and helps optimize costs.

Help simplify batch management

Manages batch applications and can deploy them to Java and non-Java EE execution environments such as IBM z/OS®, IBM CICS® and more.
Supports IBM WebSphere Application Server for z/OS qualities of service. These include security, thread pooling, connection pooling, scalability, checkpoint algorithms, restart mechanisms, multithreading and threshold policies, and z/OS integration.
Integrates workload management for goals-oriented execution. Batch jobs can be ad-hoc, event driven, batch throttled, paced and reprioritized to meet batch and OLTP service level agreements.
Supports “batch as a service,” which is an emerging service paradigm for using Java batch front-end web services.
