IBM® Debug Tool for z/OS® enables you to examine, monitor and control the execution of C, C++, COBOL and PL/I programs. This sophisticated program debugger provides multiple conditional and unconditional breakpoints, step mode debugging, and the ability to monitor and update variables and storage. Debug Tool is an interactive source-level debugging tool for compiled applications in a variety of development environments.

Debug Tool for z/OS:

  • Supports batch, TSO, CICS®, DB2®, DB2 stored procedures, IMS™ and UNIX System Services.
  • Provides seamless debugging of mixed-language applications in the same session.
  • Offers a set of interpreted commands for specifying actions to be taken and counts how many times a statement or verb has been processed in an application program.
  • Integrates with IBM Rational® Developer for System z® to enable debugging of applications within an integrated application development environment.
  • Includes utilities: Load Module Analyzer Utility, COBOL Modernization Utility and Coverage Utility for z/OS applications.

Unless otherwise announced by IBM, Debug Tool for z/OS V12.1 runs under the control of, or in conjunction with, the following programs and their subsequent releases or their equivalents.

Debug Tool for z/OS V12.1 is tested and supported only for use with the announced and currently supported levels of IBM software and hardware listed above. IBM knows of no reason Debug Tool for z/OS V12.1 will not work with certain earlier, unsupported IBM software products, specifically:

IBM will undertake to fix problems found running Debug Tool for z/OS V12.1 with the above-mentioned earlier, unsupported product levels. IBM must be able to reproduce the problem using a supported level of the same product. If the problem can be reproduced and fixed, the fix will be developed and tested using supported levels of IBM software. If a fix is made available, it is likely to work on the unsupported product level, however, IBM can not guarantee that the fix will work with the unsupported product.		 Debug Tool for z/OS V12.1 will run on any hardware configuration supported by these licensed programs
