WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer analyse les ressources du grand système et des logiciels répartis et stocke les données d'application connexes dans un référentiel DB2 qui se trouve sur le grand système. Il n'est pas nécessaire de télécharger votre stock d'applications z9 et System z sur un poste de travail, ni de charger votre stocks d'applications réparties sur un grand système. WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer analyse la source de données là où elle se trouve, que ce soit dans des ensembles de données PDS/PDSE du grand système, dans des répertoires sous Windows ou AIX, ou dans l'un des systèmes de gestion de configuration de logiciel (SCM).
WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer peut analyser les ressources réparties depuis les systèmes IBM Rational ClearCase, CVS et PVCS. Pour les ressources du grand système, seuls Serena ChangeMan ZMF et SCLM sont pris en charge. D'autres systèmes SCM peuvent être pris en charge via un exit utilisateur. Un programme fourni par le client appelle le SCM. (Un certain travail de programmation est nécessaire.) Les applications Web peuvent être analysées depuis les serveurs d'applications WebSphere exécutés sous Windows ou AIX. En plus de la source de vos applications, WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer analyse les CICS grand système et les sous-systèmes IMS, le catalogue DB2 et les domaines WebSphere Application Server répartis.
WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer permet d'accélérer la modification des applications et d'améliorer la qualité en automatisant la phase de reconnaissance d'un cycle de développement, qui peut représenter à elle seule près d'un tiers des coûts de développement d'un projet.
