IBM® Tivoli® OMEGAMON® XE for Storage on z/OS® enables you to monitor and manage mainframe-attached storage

It combines comprehensive storage monitoring for z/OS I/O subsystem performance and storage availability.

  • Enables you to monitor and manage storage (including DASD and tape devices) and the analysis of two important IBM storage software components: Data Facility Systems Managed Storage and Data Facility Hierarchical Storage Manager (DFHSM)
  • Provides the capability to quickly create commands or schedule actions that maintain and administer DASD storage with a new storage toolkit for DFHSM and DFDSS functions
  • Offers more versatile and granular reporting capabilities using the storage toolkit
  • Improves problem resolution with Dynamic Workspace Linking (DWL) to OMEGAMON XE on z/OS, which enables you to easily navigate between Tivoli Enterprise™ Portal workspaces
  • Adds enhanced problem determination capabilities with new problem-solving workspaces in the Tivoli Enterprise™ Portal (TEP)
  • V4.1.0 is fully globalized and translated into group one languages

IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for Storage:
Introducing a significant redesign to OMEGAMON V5.1 family, based on high priority customer requirements. OMEGAMON is providing new capabilities designed for:
• Improving problem resolution efficiency but requiring fewer steps to find a root cause performance impact in real time, and therefore providing higher availability.
• Improving the visibility, control and automation with a new more comprehensive 3270-based user interface capable of viewing the entire enterprise-wide environment from a single 3270 screen.
• Reducing the time required by IT personnel by leveraging Tivoli Monitoring functions including self describing agents and a new Parmgen methodology for installation, configuration and maintenance.

  • Focuses on allowing subject matter experts, such as system programmers, to combine information from z/OS and multiple z/OS subsystems (including CICS) into a single screen.

  • Features an enhanced 3270 user interface giving users the ability to effectively move between different z/OS components; provides a common look and feel of command and control conditions.

  • Improves the overall ability to users to perform analytics by reducing the amount of data generated from performance metrics by organizing the key performance indicators to be viewed based on what subject matter experts defined. This provides the ability to resolve problems on z/OS and subsystems and to follow interrelated problems from the same user interface.

  • Provides users with advanced problem determination assistance using focused problem-solving scenarios designed by customers; these scenarios put related data needed for associated problems into context to help resolve today's performance and availability issues
