WebSphere Application Server on Cloud
Rapidly create new and enhance existing applications

IBM® WebSphere® Application Server products provide a choice of fast, flexible and secure application servers to develop and manage applications on premises or on cloud. They are certified to Java EE and support a broad set of programming models from lightweight development environments to large enterprise deployments—on premises and on cloud.

WebSphere Application Server is also available through IBM Bluemix™, providing access to hundreds of cloud services, including Watson.

All production editions come with entitlement to use the WebSphere Liberty Profile—a simple-to-use, lightweight, dynamic runtime for both development and production. Liberty Profile allows configuration and application updates without restarting the server runtime. It is designed to provide enterprise level quality of service, security and transaction integrity while maintaining a small footprint.

  • Profil Liberty sur Raspberry Pi pour piloter une voiture télécommandée

Liberty profile on Raspberry Pi drives remote-control car

In 2012 IBM demonstrated the first application server running on a Raspberry Pi with the Liberty profile. Next, IBM showed Liberty profile running on a mobile phone. Now, the IBM team has gone even further and has a Liberty profile server running on a Raspberry Pi and controlling a radio-controlled car, confirming that Liberty Profile is a truly mobile application server.

The Liberty Car is a remote-controlled car that has a Raspberry Pi with a web application running on a Liberty server controlling it – all processing and logic is locally contained in the car. The car has its own Wi-Fi network that is operated from a USB-powered router under the chassis - anyone in range with a Wi-Fi device and a JavaScript-capable web browser can control it. The only thing you need in addition to what is included in the car to control it is a device (such as a mobile phone, tablet or PC).

WebSphere Application Server is a proven, high-performance transaction engine that can help build, run, integrate, and manage dynamic web applications.

The latest edition of WebSphere Application Server introduces new options for the development community with the lightweight Liberty profile and development tool options. Operations are enhanced with Intelligent Management capabilities that minimize outages, maximize operations monitoring and control the production environment. Compare the available editions to find the one that is right for your needs.
