IBM® Rational® Performance Tester Extension for SOA Quality tests the performance and scalability of service-oriented architecture (SOA) implementations. This extension includes load testing, performance testing and problem analysis for SOA applications. Rational Performance Tester Extension for SOA Quality extends the capabilities of Rational Performance Tester with these benefits:

  • Provides a versatile test scheduler that allows you to specify different groups of service consumers, and the activities and usage patterns of each group.
  • Creates tests for web services with the generic web services client for non-graphical user interface (GUI) services.
  • Captures server resource data so you can determine performance and reliability problems that are related to hardware rather than software.
  • Provides support for Java and web standards for greater flexibility and test coverage.

Provides a versatile test scheduler

  • The integrated test editor/scheduler provides high-level and detailed test views and displays all transactional information.
  • Real-time reports enable immediate recognition of performance problems and render a browser-like view of test results that is integrated with the test editor.
  • Flexible test customization and reuse of functional regression tests enable you to quickly establish system scalability.

Creates tests for web services

  • Offers multiple methods of authoring web services tests without any programming.
  • Includes an automated web service test client that automates generation of web service performance tests. Provides a proxy recorder for testing web services that already have a client.
  • Generates test cases based on Web Services Business Process Execution Language (WS-BPEL) and Web Services Description Language (WSDL) input.

Captures server resource data

  • Locates performance bottlenecks through collection and visualization of server resource data.
  • Collects and displays multiple server resource statistics.
  • Provides real-time reporting of server response time and throughput.

Provides support for Java and web standards

  • Provides broad platform monitoring support for web services and standards including the following: WSDL, SOAP, XML/XSD, JSON, HTTP(S), JMS, WS-Security, Kerberos, NTLM, MIME, MTOM, DIME and Parlay X.
  • Allows the insertion of custom Java code into performance tests to perform activities such as advanced data analysis and request parsing.
