Transaction and database manager for critical online applications

IBM® IMS™ is an advanced transaction and hierarchical database management system. Built on IBM System z®, this software provides capabilities for managing and distributing data. It is made up of two parts: a database manager and a transaction manager. Both deliver high throughput, performance and reliability.

Provides enhanced query and update commands to improve data availability.
Provides a Multiple Systems Coupling (MSC) TCP/IP link to enhance bandwidth, improving performance.

Provides a centralized data store for dynamic resource definitions, simplifying how they are managed, stored and shared.
An IMS catalog provides a single data store for IMS database-related metadata to simplify management of large production and test environments.
IMS Connect, an integrated IMS function, improves TCP/IP communication, enables access to IMS applications and data over the web, and also supports XML conversion. You can create IMS Connect client apps in both Java and C/C++.
