WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer scrute les biens des grands systèmes et des logiciels répartis, puis stocke les informations liées aux applications dans un référentiel DB2 placé dans le grand serveur. Vous n'avez pas à télécharger l'inventaire de vos applications tournant sur des grands serveurs z9 et System z vers l'aval dans un poste de travail, pas plus que vous n'avez à télécharger vers l'amont dans un grand serveur votre inventaire d'applications réparties. L'analyseur de biens balaye les sources là où elles sont, qu'elles soient dans des ensembles de données PDS/PDSE (grand serveur), dans des répertoires (Windows ou AIX) ou dans un des nombreux systèmes de gestion des configurations de logiciels (SCM).
WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer peut balayer les biens répartis à partir de Rational ClearCase, de CVS et de PVCS. Ceux des grands serveurs peuvent l'être à partir de Serena ChangeMan ZMF et de SCLM. D'autres SCM peuvent également le faire par le biais d'un exit utilisateur. Un programme fourni par le client appelle le SCM (moyennant peu de programmation). Les applications web peuvent être balayées à partir de serveurs d'applications WebSphere tournant sur Windows ou AIX. De concert avec votre source d'applications, l'analyseur de WebSphere scrute les sous-systèmes CICS et IMS, le catalogue DB2MD et les domaines des serveurs d'applications WebSphere répartis.
