IBM® SmartCloud™ Monitoring monitors the health and performance of a private cloud infrastructure, including environments containing both physical and virtualized components. This software provides the tools needed to assess current health and capacity and model expansion, as needed.
IBM SmartCloud Monitoring provides:
- Visibility into the cloud infrastructure including environments containing both physical and virtualized components.
- Monitoring of heterogeneous environments for visibility and control into all areas of the infrastructure—physical, virtual and cloud.
- What-if capacity analysis designed to model changes, reduce risk, improve availability and lower energy and server costs.
- Policy-driven analytics for intelligent workload placement.
Visibility into the cloud infrastructure
- Includes integrated contextual views of health and performance in the complete context of the virtual environment.
- Provides real time, proactive and predictive alerts.
- Displays historical data side by side so you can spot resource usage trends and quickly identify problems.
Monitoring of heterogeneous environments
- Includes alerts, best practices, expert advice and workflows for detecting performance problems and identifying their sources.
- Provides an integrated Web 2.0 dashboard. This integrated view of server, storage and network components shows physical and virtual performance, VMware cluster topology, and configuration change history.
- Provides operational workspaces and reports.
- Supports dynamic thresholding, which helps operators perform manual threshold management more quickly. Now you can identify performance problems before they lead to service interruptions.
- Supports predictive trending. You get advanced warning when critical resources are near capacity in dynamic virtualized environments so you can provision additional physical resources before resource contention issues arise.
What-if capacity analysis
- Predicts physical and virtual resource capacity bottlenecks and trends.
- Helps administrators model expansions and cloud migrations with real historical data and benchmarks, which can increase business agility while reducing risk.
- Generates policy-driven capacity analysis and reports providing detailed optimization guidance, customized for the user’s environment. They allow for more efficient use of the existing cloud infrastructure.
Policy-driven analytics
- Supports right-sizing of virtual machines, based on actual performance data.
- Provides policy-driven workload placement for performance and security optimization.
- Provides multiple hypervisor support including coverage for KVM, VMware, Citrix XenServer, Citrix XenDesktop, Citrix XenApp, Cisco UCs and NetApp.
- Features the ability to take automated remediation actions, making changes to eliminate bottlenecks before they can impact applications or users."
