IBM® Tivoli® Composite Application Manager for Transactions provides transaction tracking and visualization capabilities. It helps IT teams to more quickly and easily detect and isolate transaction response and availability issues, enabling faster problem resolution. This software also provides real user monitoring, robotic monitoring and Internet service monitoring.
Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Transactions:
- Enables proactive management of transactions—by helping to identify bottlenecks and other potential problems before they impact customer satisfaction. This software helps you reduce mean time to repair (MTTR) through shorter problem isolation times.
- Monitors user response times—for both web and Microsoft Windows applications. The software provides an agentless web monitoring component with the ability to dynamically switch monitoring levels. It generates an alert when an established response time threshold is exceeded.
- Uses robotic monitoring techniques—for impact analysis. Robotic capabilities generate synthetic transactions for web-based and Microsoft Windows applications to track their response times. This helps provide service availability for business-critical applications.
- Tests Internet services that impact user experience—by providing a suite of monitors that measure services availability, performance and content through periodic polling from specific points within the infrastructure.
Enables proactive management of transactions
- Provides a view of response time for multiple production systems. This helps you to more quickly isolate the cause of response time and availability problems and notify the appropriate specialist.
- Delivers unequalled domain coverage for transaction tracking. Uses automatically generated topology mappings to follow the path of a user transaction for the many domains of your business infrastructure. This makes it easier for you to evaluate a transaction in its entirety. The process is transparent to users.
- Automatically establishes a baseline for each domain based on historical performance data. When a performance threshold has been exceeded, the software compares the performance against the baseline to help determine the root cause of the problem.
Monitors user response times
- Allows you to adapt a user’s perspective when measuring transaction performance. The software filters user response time down to specific transactions by time, user, ID or session.
- Enables you to capture performance data from real web-based customer transactions. The software can use response time information to help identify the impact to overall business services.
- Allows you to measure the performance of HTTP and HTTPS requests including performance information for objects embedded in a web page.
- Provides near real time monitoring of Microsoft Windows applications at the client level. This enables you to make highly accurate measurements of response times.
- Correlates network activity to transactions that occur in monitoring applications. This software is ideal for monitoring thick-client applications such as IBM Lotus® Notes® and Microsoft Outlook.
Uses robotic monitoring techniques
- Supports playback of multiple scripts from a single situation and helps reduce the amount of configuration required.
- Can monitor a wide variety of applications. By monitoring simulated transactions on an ongoing basis, you can proactively manage the availability and performance of your applications and identify potential bottlenecks before they impact customer satisfaction.
- Includes the functionality of both IBM Rational® Robot and IBM Rational Performance Tester to record and playback simulated user transactions for analysis. The software also provides support for products like LoadRunner and Robot GUI, and supporting custom scripts.
Tests Internet services that impact user experience
- Can proactively log into a web address, perform FTP file transfers and execute lookups.
- Tests can be grouped together to facilitate service-level reporting. Flexible report options can help IT administrators compare multiple services based on multiple values. You can use tests to measure performance against service level agreements (SLAs).
- Internet service monitoring measures availability, performance and content accuracy of services through 24 protocols. These monitors can be used to periodically poll critical Internet services such as DNS, DHCP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP4 and LDAP.
