Visualize, document and model business processes
WebSphere® Business Compass is a collaborative web-based tool for designing and developing business process assets. Users can view and comment on published draft processes, and collaborate with various stakeholders to define best practice models. This easy-to-use tool, previously called WebSphere Business Modeler Publishing Server, helps the extended team to execute through strategic process mapping.
WebSphere Business Compass allows business users to:
- Communicate and share information using new presentation software for business process modeling notation (BPMN) processes with export capability.
- Establish a common understanding of the business with all stakeholders through well defined maps, vocabularies and process walkthroughs.
- Integrate with IBM BPM portfolio for more robust execution of business process assets.

- BPM assets can be published including process models, WebSphere Business Monitor dashboard designs and user interface forms.
- Process-model visuals are established to display labels and the latest WebSphere Business Modeler notation formats.
- Best practices are defined through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Changes and comments are recorded on models by subject matter experts.
Establish a common understanding of the business
- Forms integration lets you sketch human interfaces for business process modeling notation (BPMN) processes.
- New BPMN service editor lets you create a BPMN service interface to support process service tasks.
- New Business Vocabulary Editor lets you create business terms, BPMN item definitions, business roles and other common vocabulary terms for use across your organization.
Integrate with BPM portfolio
- Enhanced Web-based visualizations from ILOG improve overall business user experience.
- Interchange of key performance indicator information with WebSphere Business Monitor lets you implement operational measures defined in WebSphere Business Compass.
- BPMN processes created in WebSphere Business Compass can interchange with WebSphere Business Modeler for downstream integration with remaining IBM BPM portfolio.
- New support is available for WebSphere Portal and Lotus Mashups environments.
- WebSphere Business Compass supports SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (SLES), and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 on Intel and System z.
